| January 18, 2004, 11:58 AM CST by Geoff | | I payed somebody out of the paper to set up my computer for me about 6 months ago, all things were running great till it started getting problems and i had to format. Now that most things are up and running again i still have no sound, it tells me New hardware Found every time the computer starts up, but when i go to install the hardware, it wants software... and the guy that set up didn't leave me anything except my windows xp prof disk, what should i do? (i'm running Windows Xp Prof) Thanx |

| January 18, 2004, 1:46 PM CST by Encryptedmind to Geoff | Well try to get a hold of the guy 1st.. If you can't then open the case up, and look inside, if your soundcard is a seperate card, get the name off it, and goto the manufacturers site and get the drivers, if it is built on the motherboard, look on the board, and see what brand it is, and goto the manufacturers site and get the drivers..
If you don't know what you are doing, then get someone that does, so you don't mess anything up.. |

| January 25, 2004, 8:39 AM CST by DeathCore to Encryptedmind | well, yeah, i have this problem too..
it asks me for Multimedia Audio Controller all of the sudden once i inserted this C-Media audiocard, so i got the drivers, installed it and it still asks for multimedia audio controller!
so then i pull out the new audio card so i use my internet AC'97 VIA one, and it still asks for the same freakin thing o.o
any solutions? |

| January 28, 2004, 5:24 PM CST by dirk | Hey there. I gotta question about that damn multimedia audio controller!
I'm running XP home ed. on a dell made desktop, and like everyone else, suddenly, without provication, my syst. has started asking me for the software drivers for this, previously normal functioning audio controller??? I've tried searching for the appropriate driver on the disks I have but cannot find it anywhere, so can anyone please tell what the driver I'm looking for is called and where I might find it on the disks i already have. I'm sure if I perform a re-install of my system it would be o.k. at least for a while, but hey thats no fix is it, plus I've far to much stuff on my 'puter and no time to back it all up.... please in the name of ..... someone tell me how to fix this!. much appreciated |
|
| January 30, 2004, 7:55 PM CST by DeathCore to dirk | reinstalling your OS will NOT fix this problem, it WON'T cause i've tried... and now i finally got the card working for the fifth time again (thank you!) and when i play music my computer crashes (GODAMNIT >.<)
So i guess you need to buy a soundcard if you have a internal one, or replace your current out-of-date-since-beginning-of-PC's with a more "recent" one :) |

| January 31, 2004, 10:48 AM CST by suki007 | | Hi people! Could somebody help me pls??? I think I unistalled by mistake the Multimedia audio controller. Can somebody tell me where can i download or something. maybe it can be found on any of the window xp cds or something or do i have to take the pc to a professional? |
|
| January 31, 2004, 3:46 PM CST by DeathCore to suki007 | you don't have to take it to a professional and there ARE no drives for it since MultiMedia Hardware Controller is an annoying this by a company called Microsoft wich askes every startup for the drivers while there ARN'T any...
All i can recommend is: JAM the card in the box and install the drivers for that specific soundcard if they arn't included with windows XP |

| April 1, 2004, 9:50 AM CST by Mirwais to Geoff | To Geof & Everyone,
My friends, your problems might have been solved as it is long since you had them, but I had the same problem "New Hardware Found" not having any sound for the last two days. What I did for solving this that from "Controll Panel" I chose "Performance and Maintenance". In there I clicked "System Restore" on the side. In the new window of System Restore, checked "Restore my computer to an earlier time" clicked "Next" and followed the next steps to an appropriate point of restoration date. By the way, my station is e'machine using XP Home and I have given Max space of Hard D for the restoration system.
The miracle happened and I am typing this and listening to my favourite songs at the same time. Mirwais from, Kabul-Afghanistan |

| April 17, 2004, 3:44 AM CST by djimanti to kaikura | Hello,
I came here looking for an answer to the same problem:
*all of the sudden*, I couldn't listen to music.
On reboot, the system announced finding new hardware: Multimedia Audio Controller, and when I tried to install it, no driver found.
Same symptoms - including yellow ? listed under the Device Manager.
Even in the registry, there was no listed class or manufacturer.
I've searched all over the internet. It seems this is a pretty common problem. It seems especially common to those who have on-board sound-cards + WinXP - or recently upgraded to Win2000/WinXP.
So:
1. find out manufacturer model (in my case, I have an on-board sound card, so needed the info about the motherboard itself).
2. go to manufacturer's site
3. search for driver
** Important:
4. install through the device manager
(when double-clicking the install.exe from in
the unzipped directory, it didn't work)
- right-click on the yellow question mark
- choose install driver
- choose install from file location - browse
to unzipped directory.
For those who might have the same setup, mine's ASUS P4S533-MX
Thus, going to the ASUS website, searching for drivers for this model, downloading and installing DID INDEED WORK (*still doin' the little victory jig*).

Stupid Windows bug - but possible to fix.
Good luck to y'all. |

I have Windows XP professional and a Live 5.1 soundcard and I am having problems. I hope that you can help.
When I try to install my soundcard I get this message:
The file 'sfman32.dll'on windows driver cabinet is needed
type pathwhere the file is located, and then click OK
copy files from:
C://WINDOWS?Driver Cache
When I click OK nothing happens. Can you give me some suggestions of what to do?
